Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • We both had the pleasure of working with Dave at the Eaton’s Service Building. He was respectful, joyful, trustworthy, fair, open-minded, positive, and deeply proud of his family. Rick and I stayed in touch with him over the years and were grateful to see him again this past November. Our deepest condolences to his family. May your memories of Dave bring you comfort in the days ahead as you learn to live without him. Rest in peace, Dave. - Posted by: Rick & Heather Glaser (friend and ex-coworker) on: Jul 03, 2026

  • We have many wonderful memories of Dave, fellow tai chi'er, neighbour and friend. We especially remember his sense of humour, joyful approach to life, and his willingness to always lend a hand. We are grateful that our paths crossed and that we were able to share many happy and fun moments together. It was an honour to call you friend. "Big Wave to Dave" up in heaven ... and maybe you could put in a good word for the Jets to win the Stanley Cup! - Posted by: Wayne & Rosanne Lowe (friends) on: Jun 22, 2026

  • Pat and Family please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved husband, father and great-grandfather. I was fortunate to have worked with Dave as a member of the management team at the Eaton's Service Building in the 80's. And coincidentally post-retirement I was fortunate to have become reacquainted with Dave as I joined the local branch of Fung Lok Koy, Master Moy's, Tai Chi world- wide instruction practise organization. A former colleague, Dave I learned, had been gifted a Tai Chi membership by his family and had pursued the practice in earnest. I learned on beginning Tai Chi instruction that Dave was not only a fellow Tai Chi member, he was infact a very highly regarded practitioner and Instructor. Over my 10 or so years of instruction from Dave and development within the practice I garnered a deep appreciation for Dave's true love of of Tai Chi and his gift at skillfully sharing his knowledge with all persons. This became possible because of Dave's authentic and kind nature. He welcomed and encouraged practitioners of all levels with his wisdom, energy and enthusiasm. He was truly an inspiration to me and true life friend. Most importantly Dave wore the values he held most highly on his sleeve. Dave was very outspoken about his love of his wife and family. And proudly shared their accomplishments and deeply prized the occasions he was able to visit and share with them. Quite a Fellow. An example of a truly outstanding human being. I'm thankful and privileged to have known him. I have many memories that I'll thankfully recall in future. Thanks Dave. - Posted by: Greg Genik (Work colleague and friend) on: Jun 22, 2026

  • Knew and associated with Dave in Neepawa back around 1960, then again via Zoom since Covid start in 2020. A positive and resiliant guy whose company we all enjoyed. Will miss him. - Posted by: Jim Howden (Friend) on: Jun 21, 2026

  • David was a great friend since he moved to Neepawa to start grade 10. He was always stable, even tempered, a real straight shooter, very proud of his family. An original in the Neepawa high school class of 60 Survivors Zoom group. Touched us all when he came on the zoom group to say a final goodbye on his way to palliative care. - Posted by: bruce docking (Friend) on: Jun 20, 2026

  • One of the things I liked about Dave is that he enjoyed the simple parts of life. After kids, we often got together on New Years Eve. Dave offered the idea of discussing an important topic that would be presented as the question of the year. We would have the most hilarious time discussing a question like "how much is enough". The discussion would tumble through the depths of philosophical, religious and practical applications of our ideas. The question of the year was the highlight of our get-to-gether and the fellowship it engendered kept our friendship fun and meaningful. I'll miss you, Dave, and will remember these important details of our relationship. Thank you for being a great friend. - Posted by: Ernest Masiowski (friend and neighbour) on: Jun 20, 2026

  • Gone too soon: My condolences to the Deighton clan…I had the good fortune of meeting David early in his volunteerism with FLK; no doubt over the years he helped the local branch with his presence, wisdom & dedication, the same way he looked forward to helping his own family. Will cherish the memories David—until we meet again… - Posted by: Randy Chan (Tai chi acquaintance) on: Jun 19, 2026
